hi all, dont know if this is allowed,but i am sure someone will tell me if it isnt. i am trying to repair an inverter. it has 10 400v 1000uF caps of which 2 are definately dead. i have looked on rs and they want 25 quid each for them!!! as this project is more of a learning exersize,ie i dont care if it dosent work,it was free anyway, i was wondering if anyone has anything in thier junk box i could use to test it with. the caps are 35 mm diameter 65mm high wire ended with a 10mm pitch. i will pay postage ect and something for the hassle. i dont want to fork out lots of money and watch them go up in smoke. contact me off list or pm to keep the board traffic down.

That's a whole lot of stored energy; are you sure about the values? Anyway, RS is one of the more expensive suppliers (though to be fair I don't think these will be a stock item from most suppliers).
