 AA200
Price: $3.36
# 7.5H, 7.5 MFD 370V Motor Run Capacitor Single Capacitance
# Oval Shape
# Metal Can

Would such a capcitor be great for a coilgun? They say the size ranges from factory, as it may be 2-4 inches width/height.

I think you would be a lot better off with electrolytic... For that price you could probably get 1000ufd if you looked for a while.

for reference, when they saw 7.5mfd they mean 7.5microfarad. Not millifarad as we all would hope wink

Thats a bummer, I might have to try on ebay or something. But can you point me out to the best capacitor that at least holds 330 volts? I say that because my circuit charges 330 volts so, :)

Ok, Hows a 2200 MDF 450V DC i think, 6 inch tall one? :D

i bought 4 of these from this same seller. they work fantastically. 3900uF @ 400V should be great, and they are cheap too. i use 2 of them charged to 215V and shot straight through a pop can. keep in mind they are used, but they work great.

Thats real nice. But er, WHAT ABOUT A MICROWAVE CAPACITOR :D

Microwave Oven High Voltage Capacitor .71uf 2100V

http://www.stevehv.4hv.org/MOCcrusher/can1.JPG Now that's cool, 18 MO caps in parallel

thats a great deal for only $29 rocketry. i am amazed.

DaMan...as for using microwave caps, i suppose if you had gigantic bank of them, but in reality, i dont think you'll have enough capacitance to really do anything. i could be wrong though..... :D

I take 2100MFD is very bad too. That really sucks then! because these are 400VDC High Voltage Electrolytic Capacitors, 5.6 inches tall, 3.2 inches wide. and its 2100MFD? isn't anything in MFD like, bad?

2100MFD is the same as 2100 microfarad/2100uF/2100µF.

Forget about microwave oven caps...voltage is too high and capacitance is too low. The pulse length would be so fast it would only be useful for launching projectiles the size of sand grains.

On the other hand, 2100uF/MFD 400V caps would make a great coilgun.
