Have any physics majors out there ever worked on a problem-set to determine the speed the sun would collapse if nuclear fusion suddenly stopped? Nuclear fusion generates the pressure that keeps the mass of the sun from compressing the gases into a neutron star or even a black hole. How fast would the process take? Minutes? Hours? Days? More?
