Shielding magnets

Hi everyone,

I want to be able to send some magnets via the post, but am not sure whether or not the amount of "shielding" (just layers and layers of newspaper) will suffice. The post company states that it won't allow anything with a magnetic flux density over 0.159 A/m when measured 2.1m from the surface of the package.

I don't have a gauss meter handy, and don't know of any other way of easily testing the flux density at a given point. I suppose it depends on the direction of the field and all sorts of jazz, but does anyone have any very rough idea of what kind of flux density would be able to, say, pick up a regular sized paperclip?

Why not just put them inside a metal box (tin can) first? I purchased some Neodymiums a couple of months ago (approx 1cm cubes) and the box they came in wasn't very big.

steel washers or transformer lams will do...
just add layers til a paper clip barely sticks,
place the magnets alternating n-s to the washer/lam so the flux completes a circuit... additinal layers of washers/lams will kill any flux leakage
