This morning I turn on my computer and instead of my monitor lighting up it stays dim and decides its not going to turn on.. I check all the connections and when I turn it on again the screen on again, it flashes to normal brightness and then back to dim. Firstly I check the power supply and it is indeed outputting 12vdc as it says it should. So then I open it up expected to find a severed connection or a fried board and instead everything looks fine. I know you guys aren't envision tech support but I was hoping you can tell what to look for. If need be, I'll upload some pictures of the monitor myself for you guys. Any response is appreciated. Oh yeah and the warranty has expired.

Try replacing the back-light. Guides should be plentiful on the Internet.

Thanks for the reply. I tried using a different power supply and the monitor is on a functioning but it wont show green. Does this sound like a permanent problem?

edit: the power supply is the same as the original one.

A bad video cable, or loose connector, might explain this problem and your previous one too. Make sure the video cable is good and the connectors are screwed in at both ends.

yes, try to "wiggle" the connectors of your video cable and see if it makes a difference

Thanks a lot guys, should I try switch the cable with one from an older monitor as well? And why is that every time I open the monitor I wind with more extra screws neutral .

sometimes when switching from XVGA to another input the frequency settings from the video card can get messed up. I remember having issues with my older monitor hooking up to a DVI-XVGA port. Until I set the frequency and resolution, I just got a blank screen.
That might just be the problem...anyways, best of luck.

Check for bad caps. Also check for open microfuses and bad transistors on the CCFL inverter(s).
