I have always been wondering this and just thought of it seeing the Ferrofluid Display post below. I often run across "ferrofluid cooled" tweeters in Radio Shack when they used to sell horn loaded drivers, etc. I once disected small disc tweeters that were claiming to be ferrofluid cooled down to the voice coil, hoping to have a liquid pour out and finally see ferrofluid but it seemed dry!

The ferrofluid will sit deep in the stongest magnetic field in the gap where the voicecoil goes. It won't "pour out". It may dry out as well. Ferrofluid has a partial pressure of about 1mmHg so it will dry out if not enclosed.
