well, there's one thing I don't get. How do all of you run this flyback driver at several hundred watts of power, without melting the primary winding? My last zvs driver ran at only around 200Watts, the primary was about 2mm dia Litz wire, and it still got hot after some time. Now I want to run it at much higher power (because I know my flyback can take it), and I have no idea how to make the primary winding so it doesn't melt.

I think they use really thick wire for the primary. I don't want to hijack this thread but what caps are you using?

I use quite thin (approx 0.7mm dia) insulated solid-core copper wire, and it stays more or less at ambient temp after several minutes of operation at 200-250 watts.

I use the "X2" type caps from power supplies, last time i used 0.33uf one and it stayed cool, only the primary got hot.

hmm, how big cap are you using? Maybe it was getting hot because i was using a flyback with crappy core?
Ok, i'm going to buy some fets and try with a better flyback, hopefully the primary will stay cooler...
