Hey everyone.

Lets see if this part rings a bell with anyone. I'm trying to find an equivalent!

Basically, I've found a part that's perfect for my design. It's manufactured by a company called Mill-Max (Link2 and it's basically an aluminum pin-standoff. The only problem is they were quoted to me at $0.47 each. That's not such a fun number when you're planning on ordering 8000, on a budget. To be honest, it also seems wildly over-priced, but I digress.

Here's the details of the part:

Mill-Max P/N: 2650-0-00-80-00-00-33-0
Here's a direct link to a CAD drawing: http://www.mill-max.com/pin_rec_catalog/productinfo.cfm?webpartnumber=2650&start=1&leaddiameterrange=&pin_or_rec=&Part_Description=&;taildiameter=&tailtype=&mountingfeature=&mountinghole=&bodylength=&search=2650&pr=pin

Basically, I'm looking for something with similar dimensions and style, but maybe offered by a different manufacturer. Hopefully, something a little cheaper than $0.47/ea. I don't have an exact number in my mind so throw your part suggestions out there and we'll see what happens!

Anyone see anything like that before? Thanks in advance!

Did they quote for a single pin or for a quantity of 8000?

Is there a price break at 10000 or something?

The CAD drawing says brass, you say alli. Is the matierla important - like must/must not be solderable? The first thing that sprung to mind was that the dimensions were not a million miles away from a dress-making pin (apart from the length which is easily cured by cutters), which are like £1 per 1000. You could probably cast around wood-working or furniture sites to find nails/tacks/brads/pins that match those dimensions more closely, if you have to push-fit into a pre-existing hole for example.

thedatastream: Yes. There is a price break at 10000pcs, at which time they become 29 cents, each. Still a little beyond my budget.

NeilThomas: Sorry for the confusion in regard to material. Yes, the part must be solderable. In retrospect, I should have clarified how the part would be used, better. The pin will be soldered to a singular PCB footprint at the "head" of the pin and will stick out perpendicularly to the board. There is no need for it to fit into precisely into a pre-existing hole. That being said, I would like a pin diameter similar to what was specified in the technical drawing, if possible.

Sulaiman: Excellent suggestion. This is more in-tune with what I had in mind. I'll definitely take it into consideration. Thanks!

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks again, everyone!
