I am having some difficulty setting up 2 IR2110 chips to drive a full bridge.
Below is a schematic of what i have tried.
As is, nothing happens, the high side does not work, if i connect the high out to the low fet and vice versa then for some reason both the high and low output across each fet gate (between gate and source) works as expected, but shorts out the load if i try this trick on both halves of the bridge.

The schematic looks okay. You realize that you need to turn on the low side first to charge the Vb cap, and then you can turn on the high side, right?
I have built a lot of these IR21xx drivers in the past, and had no problems with them.
I have no ideas, maybe your Vb cap is too small? Around 1uf should work with no problems.

I don't know what you mean by "from one to the other", but when the low side is turned on, the Vb cap charges almost instantly through the diode.
I don't know what you intend to use it for, but these ic's are meant for high frequency operation (tens of khz), mainly but not limited to switching power supplies. Of course it will operate at lower frequency, but if your purpose is only to switch/reverse polarity of your load, I'm sure there are simpler approaches.

i have many intended purposes.
To run a high current device for an extended amount of time and then reverse the polarity (i dont know it it will allow such long operation).

To interface with 2 independant PWM channels.

To switch both sides of the bridge at the same time in an oscillating fassion as you normally would run an H bridge at a high frequency.

I am just using a mechanical switch to try to see it working even instead of implementing it and then it not working
So far im not getting anywhere. frown

please ignore the low side pinout numbering, it should be lo=1 com=2 vcc=3
