How small will they go?

Starting with the top row:

1. inicator lights
2. ceramic capacitors
3. resistors
4. transisors

Here they have the smallest size.

I think the limit is how big the atoms are and what travels between them(if you don't want to solder to it, and put it in a chip instead) otherwise I think it is as small as it can go using solder.

As far as discrete components, pretty much it will be limited by the smallest size of a part you can solder down to a board...

But for more ICs and whatnot, I can't really say. We are already down to like 50nm across for a transistor... Think about that, that is 1/10th of the wavelength of green light suprised I suppose there has to be a point where the transistors just don't work anymore... Then we switch over to quantum computers ;)

BTW, you forgot to put a vacuum tune before the transistor ;)

I thought about it and it would of been a Nuvistor.
