Hey guys, our school has some Microwaves in our cafeteria that jam the Wifi when you turn them on. There are four, and total blackout occurs when more than one of them are on. Both Wifi and MO's run on 2.4 Ghz. My boss was wondering if there is anything we can do about that (short of building a faraday cage around the MO's) ?
Thanks -Part Scavenger

I think the first thing to do is to get a microwave 'sniffer' (in UK something like this )
to ensure that no one is likely to get 'cooked'
(Grounded) Aluminium foil/sheet would be OK for a Faraday shield e.g. on the walls.

Step one is to identify the exact source and nature of the disturbance. Even if they both are microwave devices there can be a completely unrelated reason for the problem.
If it is microwave related it might be the interference between two similar but different frequencies that is causing the problem. Proper and boring experiments should give you all the answers you need to solve the problem.
