Anyone remember the recent posts box in the "old blue" theme? Would it be much trouble to put something like that in place again? I found it really useful, since it saved plowing through each forum seeing what is new.

With the two previous incarnations of the forum we had the recent threads box, and both times we found it detracted from the forum.
People stopped by, quickly scanned the recent threads list, didn't see a thread they were interested in and assumed that there were none to be had, and left.
This lead to good threads slipping into obscurity, while highly active boards like the Chatting Board dominated the forum. We would like to avoid that problem this time.
