I finally bit the bullet and Just purchased this china driver and 4 Cree FETs I went 1200V because I would like a 400-500V input and output atliest 1 foot discharges. Do you think this can be done from a 12V battery?
I am planning on using a zvs inverter with a 1000UF 900V tank only going to charge it to roughly 400-500V. Want to achieve a portable coil finally my time is incredibly tight so sadly cant even build my own driver.
Will SIC Fets work like IRF460s? I would hate to trash a $60 full bridge of FETs.

Good luck. Maybe there are readers still around who are familiar with differences between SiC and Si FETs. A line-by-line comparison of datasheets coulld shed some light for you.

SiC FETs generally require a larger gate voltage in order to fully conduct at high currents, close to 20 V. They also benefit from a negative gate pulse when opening. The high gate voltage is critical, because it is close to the abs max rating, so the driver must be designed carefully (I would exclude straight transformers). If VDC is 400-500 V and the circuit is half-bridge with antiparallel diodes inside the devices, you don't need 1200 V parts.

400-500v is a base line I'd like to achieve more. I ordered the SIC fets then did research lol backwards I know. I don't think the integrated china drive will work so I will try some other non SIC 900V fets but will have tons of on resistance the plus side is it will be much cheaper. Maybe I should take a wack at QCW highly doubtful as I read there are only a handful of people in the world who pulled it off and not much theory of operation out there.
