Hi All,
I recently came across the attached papers which detail some options for running mosfets in series for high-voltage switching. I'm wondering if IGBTs could be used with these topologies to make a direct, solid state replacement for conventional SGTCs? It would be a bit like the SISG concept detailed by Terry years ago but would allow active break rate control. Essentially an OLTC but using a HV transformer and capacitor to improve power capability. Any thoughts?
Cheers,

There have been discussions and a couple of attempts by members here and others, I can't remember much other than it is non-trivial. Google should find most of the work done.
EDIT: I just had a quick google but could not find much myself, I hope your google-foo is better than my memory.

My google skills aren't much better. I see Finn hammer has some kind of triggered SISG but can't find any details...
