I've been making progress with my slow but steady goal of building a QCW coil. I am using l oneoceans excellent write up as a guide and am generating the ramp using 555s.
I have run into a small issue that I do not understand. After the analog ramp is converted to a PWM signal and transmitted down fiber optic, the received signal is cleaned up using two series inverters from a 74HC14 chip.
However the input to the first inverter looks great but after the output of the second inverter the final part of the PWM signal looks terrible. The final reconstructed analog signal looks fine but I am puzzled by the degradation of the PWM signal.

It's just the way you're scoping it. I saw the same thing with my buck controller. Have you implemented the RC filter? What does it look like after that?

Alex,
The output after the R/C filter looks fine except sometimes it has some noise on the end of the ramp. I am also having troubles with the buck output regulation at the end of the ramp so I though there might be some connection.
I'm not sure that the effect I am asking about is causing problems, I just don't see any reason for it to be there. there is no difference between the probe that took two sets of the data so i can't see it being anything other than real.
