Okay I got two new didgital meters installed in my isolation variac one meter monitors the power coming in from the breaker and it is placed before a noise filter in the circuit, that one is fine , however I have a voltmeter on the output terminals after the isolation Transformer and this volt meter Goes Bananas once I put more than 40 volts into my coil
Is this back EMF coming through the line going across the terminals and being picked up by the meter ? or is this just RF interference and electromagnetic waves in the atmosphere itself causing the meter to freak out on me
Would adding a ferrite toroid to the voltmeter pickup wires stop the interference or is this just a proximity thing ? me being too close to the coil with the variac
The variac unit was only 10 to 15 feet away from the Coil producing 2 foot arcs.

A ferrite toroid could work. You could also try using a 0.01 uF across the power and sense terminals as well if the signal is slow.

How about an analog voltmeter?
