Has anyone got any tips on how to move a 10kw mercury arc rectifier its in a cabinet with a huge transformer which is going to be a nightmare to move. I was thinking of removeing the rectifier and suspending it in a crate and i was wondering if there was a way of making some sort of back up plan to catch the mercury incase it broke in transit.

lining the inside of the crate with sheet plastic? I would recommend filling the crate with polystyrene or foam with the rectifier ensconced in the middle. Oh yeah, and affixing a large sticker on the outside with "handle with care: live human tissue for transplant" if it's going to be handled by an external contractor.

Remove the rectifier and wrap it in loads of that foam wrap stuff and then place it into a polythene or similar container. It won't break if it is packed in sufficient foam wrap stuff, but you want it in a plastic container for peace of mind

Dylan The powedered sulphur reacts with the mercury and stops the mercury vapour. You leave the sulphur powder over the affected area for an hour or two then vacuum it up and dispose of the vacuum bag appropriately
