Cam I was bored this week-end and I built a Intercative webcam laptop. It is a toshiba satelite T2400CT 486 running windows 95. Pnumatics open/close the laptop. People can also send text to the laptop which then appears on the laptops screen. All the devices are controlled through the parallel port on my PC and some CGI scripts. It's rather pointless I know. Still fairly interesting though and I have seen some people even "chatting" from time to time. If I have time I could add more devices to control but I am out of ideas.

That's cool - an old idea I had was to build an interactive SSTC, where you could view it through the webcam, and control the interrupter etc. I might have to do it after seeing that...

This cam is located inside my closet.. not much else to see.. I was thinking about making my 811A VTTC interactive.. But if something goes wrong when i'm not around it could be a real fire hazzard.. Plus in generates a lot of RF interference when it is on.

My little toshiba actually streams quite nicely. The frame rate (8 f/s) on the LAN is more limited by the power of the laptop (335CDS 266Mhz). Drivers are as usual a trip with Linux, but its worth it. I tried watching tv with the built in audio and it wasn't bad. It has its own device interface programming built in, *which would be nice for you.
I tried CGI scripts with my rover project for a while. Now I just SSH into the laptop and run my ncurses based program.
