I had a small window for gutting all I could from a discarded AGFA xray film developer machine, it was already in a terrible state with large physical damages to part of the machinery.

Here is a picture archive of the things that could be saved.: Link2

There is 6+2 of kind of the large round steppers, 5 and 6 of the smaller ones, I took the driver boards despite they are properly hopeless to get to work without their main controller/computer as it seems like a addressed system where they all sat on the same bus cable.

There is the innards of a scanning laser head, all optics, polygon scanner and laser diode box. 120mW 640-670nm.

Receiving end of the laser was a whole bunch of fibers leading into a circular bundle that pointed into the photo multiplier tube with the blue glass front.

I took this home with me as it seemed to be good stuff that should not just get trashed totally. I got no plans and I am really looking for ideas of what to do with these things.

However much I would like to have a DIY robot arm, I think it is too steep a task for a first time stepper project, not alone the whole mechanical construction for n-axis'es :)

Maybe a small CNC laser engraver, that would involve both the steppers and the laser(s) from the stack of parts.

I tried googling a bit to find uses for the photo multiplier tube, but most DIY projects seems to be in the radioactive league and that is not a field I have a particular wish to engage in yet.

PMT looks interesting, perhaps make a radiation sensing setup with it and detect a few neutrinos?

I have been looking at cosmic ray detection with plastic scintillator and PMT. I think I found the right datasheet for the tube.
