It's time to buy a basic datalogger. Does anyone have any favorite brand to recommend, or a brand to stay away from? Internet searches have not turned up many choices for me.
The requirements: - stand alone (battery powered). - To be used in an indoor, room-temperature environment - Set up using built-in buttons and screen. No software development or downloading by user. - concurrent logging of at least two analog voltage inputs; 4+ inputs preferred. - ADC resolution >= 12 bits - minimum sample interval <= 1 second - max number of samples per channel >= 16,000 - max unattended recording period >= 1 month
Some candidates: - Onset HOBO UX120-006M $139 - Measurement Computing USB-5100 $149
Those two products appear to be identical, except for printed label on case. Each has fa LCD screen and four input channels that accept 2.5-mm stereo phone plugs. There's a wide assortment of optional external sensors (temperature, humidity, light, DC or AC voltage or current...). I think the instrument itself measures DC voltage from 0 to +2.5 V on each channel. It's unclear if the negative input is internally common to all 4 channels.
Any guesses as to who actually makes them? Are they the $5 Chinese DMM of the datalogger world?
