Have been using a Logitech C920 for extreme macro work, but the native lens shows lots of coma distortion for objects out of the center of the field and I am looking for another lens to use with the webcam. I understand C mount mods/ lenses may be useable, but I am not sure what lens would allow extreme macro close ups. Also, looking for a lens that's not costly.

I have some lenses from old scanners that are amazing quality over the whole field. If you can find one like that you should be all set. Just find a way to mount it at the correct distance from the sensor for the enlargement you want.
Not all lens designs work well at very close range and that is probably the problem with the lens you have.
