Im getting too dam tired of having random wall-warts scattered about the house. The right usb cord cant be found, the wrong wart for the device i need charged, and worst picking up my cell phone - - rushing out the door, and realizing the other end wasnt even plugged in last night !!! dead

Any of you who deny youve done the latter are liars smile , youve all done it too !

its time to strike back ! mad Ive bought a cute-as-a-button SMPS on ebay, 15USD, with a 5V, 10 amp output, obviously 10 amps wont be needed. so it will run cool.

From the source: http://www.cablestogo.com/learning/connector-guides/usb it looks like there are a huge number of derivations, this is kind of losing the intent of the original USB philosophy. In the 90's it really made connectivity for experts and grandmas easier. not sure about how many A's and B's to use.

Here's the plan:
- First, a light gauge three wire cord, with a ground prong plug, the PS is already fused.
- Next cords,
--- (2) USB micro
--- (3) USB mini
--- (1) USB Apple old
--- (1) USB Apple new
Im really trying to think of any others. please suggest, if you can. im particularly worried about the male or female choices. Im also stuck on this one slide in battery charger for my camera.
Finally, does anyone know what the precision of the 5V needed is for the common USB system is? is it really tight or often garbage?

I'd try to keep the voltage +/-0.1V to maintain compatibility with finicky devices, You might also want more micro connectors than mini connectors, as unfortunately mini USB are a dying breed. I have never had a mini usb fail, or not fit properly, I have a micro usb break every month. They are not that much bigger, but a lot more robust. Sadly manufacturers don't care about robustness.

What guarantee have you that the $US15. supply will not go rogue and put out an
unregulated voltage capable of roasting everything downstream?

That may be reason to stick with smaller units, to better manage the risks?
