Mains Conn cted capacitor voltage divider driven a load

Hi, I,ve built the below circuit hoping that I could get 120,4 volt,amp throught a 14.5 ohm load, but nothing seems to get produced
Ideas?

Imagine the 240 Vrms with two 60uF capacitors as
120 Vrms with 120 uF in series.
So the circuit becomes
120 Vac - capacitor - diode(s) - resistor - Neutral

Think of it as
Neutral - Resistor - Diode(s) - capacitor - 120 Vac

a typical half-wave rectifier charging a capacitor

The capacitor will charge to almost 170 Vdc then no more current will flow.
there will briefly be voltage across the resistor as the capacitor(s) charge, then no more.


The actual voltage at the junction of the capacitors will be 120 Vrms with a -170 Vdc offset
On a 'scope that would look like a sinewave with the positive peaks just above 0 V
(due to the diode(s) drop )


To make it work you need a full-wave (bridge) rectifier on the output of the capacitors.
