Hi all. This particular adaptor failed a while back (7 months) with a bending-induced short where the low voltage cable connected to the brick. Fixed it by opening adaptor and resoldering the cable, it worked well until a couple of days ago when it failed. Again!
This time I went to get my meter and left it plugged in. Went to check and the lead up to about halfway along was hot, the rest was cold. Guess what- another short.
So I have removed the source, and so far so good. Problem is I have even less lead to work with.
Do I splice the two severed ends together or change the whole ($$$) cable?

one cable failure could be acceptable, to fail twice means it's just not up to the job - replace the cable.
Must be a 'cheating' manufacturer so when you change the cable check the 'stiffness' of the connectors within the plug strip.
