Cool. What are you planning to do with the transformer? Is there a rectifier in the tank?
Are you skilled in the art of full-bridge inverters? Please show us what you come up with. Any plans for output current sensing and/or limiting?
I have been talking for years about making my first one ever. Once the purpose was to run ferrite HV transformers from mains voltage. Now the starter project will be a bipolar DC supply for electromagnets, say +/- 12 V at +/- 12 A. Switching frequency can be very low, but the gate drive circuits have to work at duty cycles approaching DC.

I too have been doing a lot of talking. I also do intend to have current sensing & limiting added in. it did have a rectifier and capacitor in it, but i had that all removed so in the future, if i wish i can have an external multiplier.
My Driver will be using opto-isolators and a gate drive power supply i am making myself (4 sets of +24 - 0v - -12 from a 230Vac inputted half-bridge with a max current out of 750mA each) got the test supply transformer wound and will be testing it soon before paying for the rest of them from the guy i am buying them from. If it all goes will i think i shall sell a few of these boards and parts for other people, i do believe it will work good with tesla-coils too.
The igbts i am using are CM300DY-24NF in a full bridge config.

why you do'nt write to siemens asking the data sheet, voltage and operation frequency ?
Maybe i should, i have been thinking about it, just wondering how open the company would be.... And who i would send the email to, considering the 362,000 people there are that work there.

I also got an X-Ray transformer... You need to open it the check how it works. There are contactors and a lot of stuff inside... If you do not remove the recitifier and the capacitors the discharge looks like this: When you remove them it looks like this: Both are my videos I use a half bridge as the primary of the transformer is very low ohmic.

Don't worry, my mate removed all that for me when i asked him. Ahaha.
I will use a full bridge, simply because if i wish, i can put more power through it. Also, the one i have is apparently designed for 415VDC input.
