I need to switch my cap bank for some exploding wire / coilgun applications. Would it be better to use SCR or IGBTs in terms of price? Thanks in advance
Large SCRs are expensive, I've read here on the forum that they can be paralleled. Any suggestions/precautions in this situation? I assume equalizing resistors are unnecesary in this particular application is that correct?

Paralelling SCRs would be a very difficult task, would probably require balancing inductors. With standard SCRs, the continuous current rating can be exceeded by much more than 10 times during a pulse, for short pulses maybe 50 times (only the pulsed energy dissipated in the chip is what matters), with IGBTs this is impossible, they desaturate at <10 times Icnom, the same as for DRSSTCs applies - exceed Icnom by ~4 times at most.
