Hi, just noticed a fascinating article which suggests a link between EMFs of similar range to AM radio signals and bird navigation.
Seems that a lot of problems could be caused by certain key frequencies, not just general interference. Maybe also responsible in part for Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) as some beekeepers have noticed that moving hives away from power lines and/or phone masts helps. Also relevant, some beekeepers find that grounding their hive's metal frames helps (citation needed)
It sort of makes sense, as we don't fully understand the biology of sensing magnetic fields so a quantum explanation makes sense. Adding noise to an already noisy system would certainly cause problems, this is basic physics.
