If I was going to make an Interrupter to connect to pin 5 on a 555 timer or some other IC for an ultimate sstc controller how do you think I would go about that. For testing purposes I would use a junk yard PC and then If successful I would use an embedded Mother board with a 10" touch screen, USB Oscilloscope, WIFI for internet, Audio modulation and what ever elts I could even develop a special program for it all. It would really need to be Isolated from power electronics maybe needs to be built in to a small Faraday cage and even use fiber optics. I have found that it could be much easier just to use a PC based system than using a Raspberry pi Android based system.

I have wondered the same thing. Could you maybe use an Optocoupler to keep noise out of the computer? I think a TL494 would be better than a 555 for audio since you can adjust frequency and duty cycle independently.

If I where to do this, I would have an fpga or microcontroller to talk to the cpu, then have a fiber optic output directly on the card. The only worry I would have with a system like this is that you would need to program the device with plenty of shutdown procedures to account for any computer based issues that pop up. Everything from unexpected loss of power and shutdowns to error signals. with a dedicated device that performs all operation on it's own, you don't need to worry about multiple sources of failure.

I was also thinking there would need to be allot of isolation and many fail safes especially with a touch screen I have used my smart phone for audio modulation and the phone became very erratic/unstable.
I was thinking of a mother board like this cheap little one and building a nice unique case with all of the controls.
Also the 555 timer was just something I thought of it will be to advanced for a 555.
