Been thinking about getting into some EM plinking again and found this person on ebay selling large lots of photo flash caps;
Opinions?
There are other listings (e.g. 500 for $85), which seems really cheap- even fair when considering cost per kJ. I am aware of the 'capacitor plague' and am hesitant to buy anything from china, although they've slowly been modernizing in some areas. These are supposedly nippons but a quick look at nippon's catalog doesn't show any that are identical in specs.
Most of the guy's negative feedback is "item did not show up", which is probably expected when shipping from hongkong. Not many about product quality.
Anyone have bad experiences with crappy/fake ebay components? I've bought some counterfeit silicon before, though have not heard much regarding capacitors outside the exploding motherboard recalls a few years back.

While they are cheap per kJ, the problem is, the time taken to solder them, you could likely use that time to earn money for some really nice big capacitors like these:

I already have around 4kJ worth of large (new) electrolytics, the purpose of these is making small banks of varying capacity. Photo flash caps are also pulse-rated and usually lower ESR than the big ones.
