Hi all. I recently acquired a nice EL panel originally from a broken watch.
It has an unusual curved piece and pinout which shows on the back, so I was toying with the idea of either lasering or mechanically abrading just the back insulator and then connecting to the underlying substrate for the purposes of making a vU meter.
Has anyone managed to do this? I know that EL is notoriously delicate but this would be a neat project as up to 24 segments could be generated in this way and multiple colours are possible by using it in blue mode with Highlighter lines over the segments.
Since my earlier experiments that Sellotape graphite has shown up so interconnects can be made which don't degrade as much and are "dry" so the EL doesen't eat itself.
Ideas? -A Kind regards, -A
