The new ac flyback i made. ARCS THROUGH OIL. arcs through my thickest glass. THe ac flyback turned into a dc one.it spits 40 to 50 kv. I need to make a capacitor for it. I mean. it arcs.. ARCS through oil. Oil is a really decent insulator. but not decent enough for it. What can i do? help please D:!

Dry and clean oil gives breakdown voltage results better than the oil with moisture content and other conducting impurities. If you do not have commercial transformer oil, fresh mineral oil is your next best bet since most transformer oils are made from a mineral oil base with naphtha or paraffin added.

I was using vege oil. it's quite dirty tho. I am using that to make a capacitor that can withstand the ac flyback crazy voltages for the mini tesla coil.
