Hey Everybody! I have been gone for a while, but hopefully I am back for good now.

I have decided to go through and finally finish all of my projects one by one. I chose to start with my plasma speaker, as I have all the parts required. It will be direct mains driven, using a half bridge for switching. I have most of the design figured out, but I have a few questions before I go any further.

First, here is what I have so far..

1357897484 3831 FT0 Dsc04642

1357897579 3831 FT0 Dsc04645

1357897509 3831 FT0 Dsc04644

I already have the IEC jack, and half bridge soldered onto the board. My half bridge consists of some 600V 76A FETs, 600V 15A freewheeling diodes, and 200V 470uF capacitors. My GDT is 16 turns of 3 strands of 24 gauge wire. The rest of the components are just there for show for now. I haven't figured out just how I want to drive this thing yet, as I have 3, maybe 4 different chips to experiment with. However I decide to do it, the GDT will be driven with a pair of UCCs. My options for a driver are a TL494, SG3525, CD4046, and the questionable XR-2206. There is an AM signal input pin on the XR-2206, but I don't how well the chip functions yet.

So now onto the questions:

1 - Will having my power transformer that close to my GDT cause any problems?
2 - The blue caps are gonna be a DC blocking cap, and each one is .68uF.. Is 2.72uF enough for this purpose?
3 - Will having the driver be rather close to the HV transformer cause any major problems?

Thanks in advance for any help(:

No, probably not. Insulation is a good thing.
