Hello all,

I'm a long time lurker and first time poster on 4hv.org, and I've run into a problem I was hoping to get another look at. I'm attempting to duplicate steve ward's 8kw pfc boost converter in order to power another project of mine.
link to Steve's page on the boost converter:

when working with the main AC input section of the high power schematic
Link2

I chose relays that i thought were rated to handle standard 110/120v AC on the coils
Link2

As soon as I powered that section of the circuit up, it began clattering like crazy as the relays switched on and off (at 50-60hz I imagine). I know that steve's boost converter is designed to work in discontinuous mode, but not like this!

Picture of my recreation of this part of the circuit:

Are there AC relays that close when AC is applied to the coil and don't disengage until ac is switched off (rather than flipping back and forth)? Or have I misunderstood the way this part of the schematic is supposed to work?

Picture of the rest of my work in progress:

I've pmed Steve Ward directly, but he's a busy guy and this is a pretty simple problem I suspect!

first notice this: "Coil Voltage: 12 VDC" -mouser

then read this: Link2

and finally chose one of these: Link2
