discharging a 3nF HV capacitor through a coil

I saw on HvWiki that it's possible to make a homemade capacitor. Tiny capacitance, like 3nF, but it could handle up to 60kV(!). As an interesting thought experiment, i pulled up Barry's RLC sim to see what would happen if I used this as a capacitor on my coilgun.

The sim says that, due to the "ringing" of the coil, there would be an (essentially) 14kHz AC current through the coil. 14kHz is radio frequency! I don't know much about radios and how they work, but would this generate radio waves / interference of any kind?

Definitely. You'd be making essentially a mini radio oscillator circuit. Of course the oscillations would die down really quick. You'd be making a little "ping" on radios, if you could get the frequency up higher.

interesting. So I don't need any sort of antenna. And.... how do antennas work anyway?

Kind of.
You can hear sounds at that frequency.
It seems rather low to me.

quite close to the "pouuiiiiiiiiii...." you can hear when a modified hartley oscillator based capacitor charger like a photoflash unit slowly changes frequency as the resonant frequency of the system is increasing with output impedance, but inverted as it discharges in place of charging

The transient period would be so short there is no way you could actually hear anything more than a pop on the radio.
