Any idea how to test a 2kA closed loop current sensor?

I am trying to build some sort of tester for closed loop hall effect current sensors.
These are off the shelf sensors, rated for 2kA, and has a 56mm dia hole for the bussbar. They are the output current sensors for a motor driver.

I guess the only way is to inject a current and monitor the output.
However, how important is it to test to the full range of 2kA?
Is a DC test good enough?
Any common failure modes I should be aware of?

I'm not sure how feasible it is, but what about discharging a capacitor?

You could achieve quite high current pulses that way.

If you want more current than the supply you have, then just use more than one turn through the current transformer. It will add some inductance to the circuit, but for a gross measurement, should be okay.

One turn through the center of a fairly large toroidal power transformer,
ten or more turns through current sensor,
using a variac, measure current in the primary, multiply by turns ratio.
(wind a small multi turn coil to determine volts-per-turn, hence primary turns)
using a variac wind up primary current,
(max pri ac current = primary (VA rating/Voltage rating)

(Current ratio) = (primary turns) x (turns through sensor)
