hi im new to this forum and i thought i might show off my non zvs flyback driver. it is a royer oscilator and puts out quite a lot of power here is the schematic
this circuit did not take alot of time to build and did not cost alot to make either here are some pics of the arcs
just make sure you use a thick gauge wire or it might end up like this here are some pictures of the power supply its a rewound mot and has an 20v tap 40v tap and a 60v tap and when i get some bigger transistors i will add an 80v tap
to see videos of this arcing go to my youtube channel i have now added a second flyback and fiddled with the turns on the feedback and primary and got some awesome results

Hi, yes it works, but MOSFETs are probably more efficient. Do you realise that with 60 volt input, there is around 180 volt peaks on your 14 turn primary, and thus ~50 volt peaks on the 4 turn feedback winding? The E-B junction of a typical BJT breaks down at 10-15 volts, so you are most likely wasting a huge amount of power in the base. I'm surprised the transistors even survive this abuse.

wow i never knew that there would be 50v on the feedback but it makes sence thats probly why im getting so much heat. is there a way i can lower the voltage on those windings would lowering the feed back turns work? and i dont think that mosfets work. would igbts work?

I lowered the feedback windings to two and it worker abit better but the feedback wires came loose and then the transistors went short and now im not sure if its working i havnt tested it cause im in bed now but all the wires on it are melted :( next time ill remember to make better connections lol im soon going to buy some igbts for it

Are you sure this is "non-zvs"? I looks pretty much like a current-fed resonant push-pull converter and I bet it operates in a near zero switching mode. Just because *THE ZVS* (gosh I hate that) is implemented with MOSFETs doesn't mean no other semiconductor device can achieve zero voltage transitions.

2n2222 is that a typo ?
OMG that's not right! No way that little plastic transistor could handle the power. It has been a while sincle I messed with that circuit. I can't remember which transistor I used, it was very similar to the 2N3055 but handled much more power. This is going to bug me now until I can figure out which one it was.
