The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
That's why they are my favorite component. They're so cool! My opinion on caps: they are awesome, important, and cause the fire drills that randomly go off during your Electronics Class to get that strobe-y effect. They are my favorite components, and if you are to relate your personality to a component, this would be it. The amount of time it takes for me to explode with anger is at a direct variation of the amount of stimulant I get, and in the amount. The more the stimulants, the faster I get angry, and if the time comes to "discharge" I release all my anger at once. Also if anything comes along to "short my terminals." Of course, a cap dissipates its charge over time. As for that video, I'd like to leave a charged leyden jar around in a crowded place, and watch from a distance as someone picks it up out of curiosity, then yelps. Of course, it wouldn't be so charged that he/she would be injured, just to surprise them :P.

I found the second half of the demonstration by MIT that is linked in the first post of most interest. That would seem to imply that glass can store electrical energy in it's physical form.

This effect with Leyden jars appears to do with a bit of moisture on the surface of the glass jar forming a capacitor electrode which is charged by corona from the metal electrode: ,
But dielectrics can store energy either in polarized molecules or trapped charges (trapped electrons, or missing electrons).
