I need help choosing a power driver ic for a coilgun firing setup. plan is to have the optival switch trigger a 555 to control pulse length, and to act as the gate signal to the power driver to turn on and off an igbt. If anyone has a schematic or advice of a similar setup any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached is the pdf of the data sheet for my igbt's. what specs should i be looking for in a power driver ic to work with this igbt?

Not really sure what you mean by rise time, Basically
I need the IGBT to turn fully on as fast as possible when its triggered then after about 2ms I need it to turn off as fast as possible so the projectile can avoid magnetic suckback suckback from the coil.
Can I use the output pulse of the 555 as the input for the IGBT driver???
Will I need any other additional circuitry for the driver????

Every IGBT has a small capacitance on the gate. To turn on all the way, the capacitor has to charge fully. The more current you push into the gate, the faster it turns on. The rise time is the time it takes for the gate capacitance to charge all the way. Same thing for turning off the IGBT but you discharge the capacitance.
