This looks awesome. They use cameras to track their position.

Yep thats Pennsylvania's GRASP lab, at IARC we were all watching they're youtube vids. Really a "wow!" kinda vid.

this is a cool video too! (look at 1:10) Link2

this is a human carrying multi-rotor! Link2

a fan-wing Link2

While greatly impressive, what they demonstrate cannot be done out side their lab. Since they use external light projection and camera for optical flow analysis.

What they demonstrate in this video is my end goal, via autonomous IMU and GPS, along with onboard and collective optical flow. Once i start my own buisness, I want to buid civil drones for enviromental and rescue operations, like for Katrina/Fukushima/Chernobyle. Remember peace is good for buisness. Then i want to build martial bots for the killing of the enemy and breaking of stuff on the battlefield, because war is good for buisness.

But first, the kind of flying seen in the above you tube clip is essential. And must be done out in the wild, not a lab.

Using individual machines to kill terrorists like the Reaper/Predator and peeping like the RQ-170 and Global Hawk has proven quite useful, but putting one or even a handful of drones up in a battle space is merely a childish use of a much more significant concept. Its only when we put up entire squadrons of 30, flight groups of 100, and fleets of 1,000+, machines, coupled with the wise use of tactics, and air-tasking order that we will begin to see the real possibilities, then it will be the terrorists turn to be afraid. (Russia and China too, and if i do it wrong and they escape, possibly the rest of humanity.)

EDIT: if they're is a nuclear 9/11 or Pearl Harbor and im drafted to lead a UAV combat squadron, im going to look for a name plate on the drones, and if it says : "Property of the United States Government, Made In China." im going to totally freak out.
