Hey Everyone, I am a HS Senior and I have a science fair project that is worth the term's mark so I really need help. I am assigned to use a flyback transformer to convert 9V to thousands of Volts. I watched videos but they don't show what I really need. I must submit it next week. I wanna know how much resistors do I need to have, which Transistor numbers. and most important is how to make the connection of the wires. Which wires where and in which pin. I really have no idea and I need a detailed thing because I am not really professional in this. One more thing, my flyback transformer, taken out of an old TV screen has ONLY 9 pins while I suppose they must be 10 ?? please, any help is appreciated.

Our search functions suck here on the forum, but there is more that enough here (some threads with my name.) to get you started. (and dont assume all flybacks are standardized, they vary wildly...)
I wont do the work for you...
look here -> Flyback Transformer Plans/schematic
and here -> HV Flyback Bench Top Power Supply for Lab.

It's not about doing my work, It's about I dunno what is my work because I have no idea. Thx anyway :)
See this its a simple easy way for beginners to get high voltage from a flyback and its step-by-step.
When you say 9v do you mean a 9v battery? if so then don't expect very big arcs and the battery will run down very fast. Instead use 2 6v lantern battery's in series for 12v.

Very simple, but with everything spread out in a table and interconnected with alligator clips the probabilty of something touching where it should not is huge. Valid for an initial test, but then assemble the circuit in a more solid and well insulated way.

Oh I know that, I just made it for people with little or no experience in electronics to have a go. If something touches and shorts then it will be a learning experience for the experimenter.
When I made mine I put it on a piece of veroboard with mains terminal blocks for the connectors.
