Im having some difficulties with comparing different ferrite materials. Contestants are:
Epcos N30 ,property%3DData__en.pdf
Ferroxcube 3c90
If cores are same size and operating conditions are 300mT, 50kHz sinusoidal drive waveform. Which One of these cores have larger core losses and by how much.

if they dont list the loss conditions, then theres nothing to compare.
Im suspicious that the EPCOS maybe crap material, for that very reason. Or perhaps not meant for power usage. Your sure you have the complete datasheet for the N30?

Epcos uses relative loss factor on their datasheets all over
I really dont think that allows a comparison or is an equivlent (even with some fancy math). in any case, for the 3C90 material... 300mT, 50kHz you can expect about 500kW/m^3 of loss, so take your core volume and multiply by that. Youd would want to keep the ferrite temp at 90C other wise (above or below 90C) your loss will increase.
i prefer the TSF-50-ALL material, but i dont know your application. (50ALL would also yield about 500kW/m^3, but i dont know your temperature dependence, from 40C to 100C the loss rate is substantially flat.)
Imust admit 3C90 is a perfectly fine material, many use it. the N30 i have doubts about....

T65 which is best Epcos power material for low frequency stuff (according to their app note..) has just tiny bit lower loss factor at 50kHz than N30.
Whats thier datasheet say for temp depencance, and what is your planned thermal profile?
Once you get to the question of: this one is a little better than that one, you must account for the other factors that will alter the tiny gain you first sought.

Here are two screenshots from epcos datasheets T65 vs N30 and one of their app note stated that T65 is their state of the art power transformer material for this low frequency range.
My application is large induction heater which will have transformer driven tank circuit. Reason why i want to compare these two materials from ferroxcube and epcos is that i have friend who made well working induction heater with transformer wound on 3c90 core and i happen to have same size N30 cores laying around.
3c90 in this application stays almost stone cold but i dont mind if i need to apply some airflow to my transformer.
Maybe i should just pop it in and see what it does..

Kizmo youshould call this EPCOS company and find out why they use tan sigma over u sub i or whatever, if they cant give you a striaght answer i wouldnt use their material in a system critical application.
