My ZVS is dead again.

Tried replacing zeners, diodes, and I also replaced the capacitor as it was bulging, When I turn it on it's OK, but when I connect a load/flyback to it, it short my PSU? Right MOSFET gets hot.

This happened a few weeks ago :(

I checked the output voltage on my MM, and it's 24v AC from a small 65w transformer. Input from the transformer is 22v.

So why does the ZVS give out voltage, but when I put a flyback there it shorts?

Im not fully understand because im a hands on person...aka i require it in my hands to see whats wrong. If you have a DMM with a continuity test, use that... Remove both mosfets. probe pin 1 and 3, then 2 and 3. if at anytime the meter goes beeeeeep, it means your mosfet is fried. Seeing you have one getting hot, i see that as a possibility. not 100%.

But last time the circuit broke the right MOSFETY got hot, I fixed that by removing the Fet'sand putting them back in!

I used a diode tester, and the MOSFET's didn't conduct. If I remember it will conduct from the gate. Very annoying :(

Use an ohmmeter. If you measure less than 500 ohms between anything the fet's fried.

if you have the mosfet removed and your seeing conducting between gate to 3 its likely because it has an avalanche diode...I would do as stated above, try an ohm meter...see what you get... 1-2, 1-3, and 2-3.

The MOSFET that gets hot measures 1-3 from gate to source, and if I do this with the other MOSFET it measures something like 1000~ This is using a diode test.

That's probably a good indication that it's fried then, sorry. time to buy/sample some new ones.

Looks like I'll have to buy some then yes, is there any cheap FET's that are as good as IRFP250?

Where should I buy the IRFP250? I live in UK.

All I care about is good postage, anyway those MOSFET's are 1.47 that OK I suppose, what is the max current 25A and the 250n is 30A, so I suppose they are OK.

I will buy 2 IRFP250N's and 4 of those MOSFET's.

I'll buy some diodes too.

Thanks!

I will be getting these.

I did buy zeners but they are gone somewhere :(

Anyway they are OK?
