I needed small polarizing beam splitters for the near-IR region and since surplusshed.com has one that seems promising, I added a sample to my order.
Unfortunately, these don't seem to be real polarizing beam splitters but something odd with an exctinction ratio of 10:1 or less. What are they good for? Maybe they are used as beam splitters with tunable transmission neglecting the plane of polarization?
