Would you consider this a bad circuit layout?

Hi, below are some pictures of my SG3525 driver that I use to drive a flyback transformer in a half-bridge fashion.

I am just wondering if all of the jumper wires are a bad thing and if my layout would be considered very bad in terms of stability. When I measure the frequency of the output it can fluctuate by about 100-200hz without me touching the circuit. Now this might be the potentiometer I am using (10k) as it is still new and very sensitive to the knob being touched (lol that sounds wrong!).

I know layout can be very important when you get into the mhz range but this circuit only goes from 16khz upto 86khz, not sure if poor layout can effect circuit oscillating in that frequency range.

I have no plans for this layout as I just made it as I went along following this diagram.

Schem

Except I have a 0.1uF decoupling cap across the supply rails and I am using a separate supply for the chip so the voltage regulator is not used.

I have one or two jumper wires going under capacitors, is that a bad thing?

Just wanting to get some options from people on here.

Thanks.

i would personaly say that i think you can do better, to me it looks like you could cause alot of shot Circuits

Thanks.

I was thinking that, but I do have a piece of polystyrene then goes underneath it so if anything conductive gets under it only touches the polystyrene.

BTW another question, are ceramic caps any better than the film caps I currently have? When I did try ceramic caps the frequency was even more unstable.

if it works, it works. looks like you've got a lot of flux left on the bottom that I'd clean off with some isopropyl alcohol.
I'm sure you'll make progressively nicer looking circuit layouts just as i continue doing. 0.1" grid space graph paper is pretty helpful in planning things out.

I also found that dividing the circuit up into sections, efficiently laying each one out, and then puzzle piecing them back together based on their inputs and outputs can be an easy way of simplifying a design (like a divide and conquer algorithm)
