I am lookin for a simple circuit to switch on and off an igbt when a beam of light is broken for use in a linear accelerator. I looked all over on this and other websites and cant seem to find what i am looking for
Can someone with a good circuit please post it or give me a link.

Is there a response time requirement? e.g. maximum elapsed time between breaking/making of the beam and the transistor switching on/off. If so how big is the igbt? ( Qg Cg etc.)

I guess as quick as possible. it is for a multi stage coilgun. i have calcuated that approx 1 ms response time is needed for the final stage when the projetile is moving the fastest. I got this number by using projectile and coil length as well as initial projectile velocity. I calculated the time it would take to be midway through the coil.
here is a link to the spec sheet of my igbt
I just noticed that the forum doesnt like the format of the hyperlink with the ()'s... just paste"(IXXH50N60C3).pdf" it at the end of the link and it should work
