I got this tube, and according to the datasheet it is a "high gain miniature remote cutoff pentode, primarily used for high gain radio frequency/intermediate frequency amplifier.

From my understanding, a remote cutoff tube means the gain varies quite a bit... Which means that the tube wouldn't be good for audio amplification? If I'm wrong, then that's great.

If I'm not, what else could I use this tube for? Could I possibly attempt building a small radio transmitter with it? (you know like 2 watts or something...)

Ir will work as an audio voltage amplifier.

It would be better to use a sharp cutoff tube.

Remote means the transconductance can be varied over wide range,
to correspond to the wide range of radio signal strengths encountered.

About 45 dB with an average AM radio for which that tube was designed.

Isn't there a way to set the gain externally using a cathode resistor? :/

What is your definition of gain?

Transconductance, since the datasheet neglects to give a mu rating.

Pentodes don't list amplification factor like triodes do. The transconductance is
given for the *BA6.

This is an partial of a RCA tube manual, can be found on line, relating cathode
circuit to gain.

You have to careful regarding tubes. It is a dead technology. You can waste
a great deal of time on non-productive efforts that would better be spent on
honing other skills in math, chem, and physics,
