How to create a digital stopwatch?

Hi!

How can I build a digital stopwatch with a precision of at least a tenth of a millisecond? And is it possible to buy such a device pre-built?

You just need a 'gate' that is opened and closed by the signal that you want to time;
an accurate clock/oscillator - for 1/10 ms resolution you need 100 kHz minimum;
and a digital counter to count the pulses that pass through the 'gate' whilst it's open.

buy something like this Link2 or Link2 etc.

You can easily measure time intervals in the tens of ns range (probably even better if you use a few tricks) with a fpga.

Like this one:

Maybe it's overkill....depends on your budget and how fast you want results.
