Scientist at MIT are working on a way to use electrolyte as a liquid fuel which can be easly stored and transported like gasoline.

Givews a whole new meaning to filling up your car with go juice.

Any ideas if this is toxic? seem to recall a vanadium based system that used a liquid electrolyte.

It seems they have taken a lithium-something battery
and formulated the -cathode- material as an electrically conductive semi-solid full of lithium.
That stuff will be chemically depleted as the battery discharges,
and might be recharged electrically, or physically displaced by an injection of fresh cathode cocktail goo.

I don't think they -present- it as a fuel cell, since there are economical fuel
cells that burn things thousands of times less expensive. (e.g. Bloom Box)

Re. toxicity, as with all lithium-based batteries the fluid is surely non-aqueous and probably highly flammable. Never eat it or get it in your eyes.

One day I picture "Go Juice" being made at home using gatorade and something else. Eh, I think I'd rather have gatorade as *my* go juice. Just use salt for the batteries. Hee hee.
