need some ideas as to what to do with it. it's approximately 475 feet of 28awg, 28 conductor ribbon cable (~2 inches wide) found it in the hallway next to the trash and figured it was quite a waste to just throw out.

If is the colored wire kind, you could make baskets from it.
Otherwise, some hams have found that dipoles made from lengths of flat livestock electric fence have very nice bandwidth despite the lousy conductivity of the strands (stainless). Yours is good copper tinned.
If you formed it it into a mobius loop and spliced the ends so every conductor was in series and came out to two wires you may have an unusual inductor.

They probably had nice bandwidth (or the illusion of at least) because of the lousy conductivity, not despite it. The losses smooth out the peaks and dips in the impedance curve.
I've seen plans for a dipole made of ribbon cable, where you cut all the conductors to different lengths to suit the different bands you want to use. It's basically a set of dipoles that share a middle.

I've cut a mains extension lead in two, and reconnected it together with a foot of flat ribbon cable, paralleling the conductors into three groups. I means I can close the car door on the extension lead, and it will sit flat in the door seal (don't tell elfin safety)
