My capacitor tester on my DMM isn't working anymore. Should I buy an actual capacitor tester? or should I just buy another DMM with a capacitance meter function? Cheaper is better as long as it's accurate.

I murdered my LCR meter, then bought a cheaper, chinese one that only does C, havent regretted it yet, seems as accurate as the more expensive ones.

Same thing happened to me.
I just use a known inductance, sig. gen. and 'scope now.

Personally I think a separate LCR meter is better, The L function is useful to have though admittedly not used as much. Many also give a choice of measurement frequency higher is better for measuring very small capacitances, (10’s of pf) something my last multimeter couldn’t do very well. If I was buying one now I’d try to find one with ESR measurement as well, to test suspect electrolytic’s Also check what the highest range is if you need to check really big caps. I don’t know what the really cheap ones are like, but I’d probably be a bit wary of them too.
